How it works
Microsuction is our most common method for cleaning the ears, using gentle suction to safely and comfortably remove earwax. A small, thin probe is directed at the earwax in the ear canal, and gentle suction clears the blockage. For those who prefer, we also offer a traditional ear washing technique to ensure your ears are thoroughly and safely cleaned.
Assessment - Your audiologist begins by carefully examining your ears to identify any blockages, check the condition of the ear canal, and ensure that earwax removal is safe for you.
Preparation - The specialist will explain the procedure step by step, answer any questions you have, and make sure you are comfortable and relaxed before starting.
Procedure - Using a small, thin probe, gentle suction is applied to carefully remove earwax from the ear canal. The process is precise, safe, and designed for maximum comfort.
Post-procedure advice - After the cleaning, your specialist will provide guidance on maintaining ear hygiene, tips to prevent future build-up, and advice on when to schedule your next check if needed.

Preperation for your ear wax removal appointment
Some useful tips to prepare for your apppointment to ensure optimal results from your treatment.
Tip 1 - Use olive oil
When preparing for ear wax removal, we recommend to use olive oil only in the days leading up to your appointment. (3-4 days before is ideal). Earol is an easy to use olive oil spray that we recommend.
Tip 2 - Don't use cotton buds
Please avoid any temptation to use Q-tips, cotton buds or any other instrument in your ears as this can push wax deeper into the ear canal, cause blockages, irritate the skin, and even damage the eardrum.
Tip 3 - Not too much!
We do not recommend using excessive amounts of oil or using alternative drops/sprays such as Otex as they can increase the likelihood of a second visit being required to complete the procedure.
